  smiddy - I am sorry to say that I totally disagree with you and would suggest that you are too influenced by a very effective campaign to justify the completely disproprotionate use of force by Israel. I would strongly encourage you to study the history of Zionism and the creation of the State of Israel starting with the Balfour declaration and carrying on through the use of terrorism by Zionist groups such as Irgun and the Stern Gang agaisnt the Brits to get them to abandon Palestine, which at the time was a British protectorate and prior to the Balfour declaration was more than 90 percent Palestinian Arab, in a way that created the preconditions for the creation of the State of Israel. They made their bed and now they have to lay in it but they want to play the victim. They are far from victims. But you need to distingusih Isrtael and Zinoims from the Jewish people generally who historically were victims of terrible racism. The irony is that it is now the Arabs and the Muslims who are the biggest targets of racist hatred as demonstrated by some of the posts on this and other threads. I must say I am horrified by the level of knowledge of the issues demonstrated by posters on JWN on this and other threads and there seems to be a correlation between the level of lack of understanding and the vehemence of the opinion. Hamas gets support from the youth of Gaza because of the sense of futility they have inherited. I have been to Gaza - it is miserable - young people htere have no propsects of any future whatsoever.   JB - WTF - ditch the conspiracy theories! While there are rich and influential Jews (and it is no accident that the US and UK governments are loath to cirticise Israel), there are are rich influential people from most ethnicities and religions. You also need to recognise that the Jewish people have been oppressed terribly over the years and the sort of crap that you sprout was often used as the rationalisation. I am a big opponent of Zionism and Israel's policies in Palestine, in particular the disproportionate attacks on Gaza but I cannot countenance inciting racial hatred either. Also your patronising 'I am right and the rest of you who do not accept what I am saying are idiots' tone is offensive. Fraz

  I agree with Simon's point about how sometimes Zionists use accusations of anti-Semitism as a conversation stopper for criticism of Israel. You might wonder why Anti-Muslim and Anti-Arab don't get the same airplay.

  My wife sees the lack of love and.. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

  in the past few weeks, my wife has been seeing more and more the lack of love and caring from jws.

  for example, she is organizing a "princess party" for our 4 year old daughter.

  a couple of the parents have expressed reservations about this since they think princesses may be "too magical" even though we know they have been to disneyworld, and watch the disney channel.

  My only other piece of advice is to take it slowly, be patietn and don't be discouraged by backward movements. I think you realise that introducing apostate literature to her or arguing doctrine or lecturing her now would be a mistake. Just keep showing her the love, maintain the open lines of communication and when she talks ask questions to let her see what her intuition is stgarting to tell her.

  BU2B - you are making progress. I think focussing on how she feels about behaviour at the Hall is the key. You are right to hone in on the lack of love. The other thing to try to get her to acknowledge by asking her questions about it is how they make her feel unworthy the whole time - like she is never good enough. See if that is the way she feels and then ask her to think about why she feels like that and what it is that is causing her to feel like that. Once she starts to realise that is exactly the way they want her to feel then you will start to make very tangible progress IMHO. Why would Christian love make you feel bad about yourself?   one elder told a publisher, to hide the tract in the mailbox if the home owner wasn't home.

  the publisher was used to folding the tip of the tract, and just left a tip showing.

  jam - nice peice of blame the victim - this is what the Israelis want the West to think - they have divided and conquered the Palestinians for years - they funded Hamas as an alternative to Fatah in the 70s and 80s. You may want to do some research about the history of Zionism and how Israel came to control a land which was over 90 percent Palestinain 100 yers ago. You might want to wonder why the Palestinian deaths and causaulties are a massive multiple of Israeli deaths and casualties. What is the political imperative in Israel that requires such as massive retaliation. You might want to think about the living conditions and frustrated aspirations of the Palestianian youth living in Gaza. You might want to find out why Israel opposes a coalition government between Hamas and Fatah.

  the watchtower has always praised witnesses who are on welfare and decided to pioneer.

  many in my congregation, including my mom, were given kudos, praise and assembly parts because they took advantage of jehovah's provision through the government....did you notice this, or was it obvious to me because i was raised in the inner city and many people recieved government help?.

  well me, fraz and laika had a little meetup before we went on holiday.....it was great to meet fraz for the first time.

  jgnat - don't waste your fingers typing why she shouldn't do it - for whatever reason Kate has decided to do this - she has some pretty good rationalisations as to why she is doing it, which don't allow you, or Kate, to understand the true reasons. I spent an hour pointing out all the reasons why she shouldn't do it but she clearly had made up her mind so I was wasting my breath. This makes no sense to me and worries me - I don't think it will end well - but she has to work it out for herself - she won't be told.

  Kate - I hope you had a good break and have come back relaxed and full of beans. It was very nice to meet you (and to catch up with the very likeable Laika) before you went away albeit slightly frustrating in that I could tell I was having no traction whatsoever in trying to persuade you not to go to meetings (mind you I am used to not being listened to). So for the record I am throwing in the towel. Take care and look after yourself in the land of conditional love. Fraz
